In Week 5 of Term 2 our class focussed on how to write great information reports.
We wrote about the planet Mars as we are in the middle of learning about Planet Earth and Beyond. Learning how to write a geat information report will help us with our self-guided topics in a few weeks time.
Here is my writing, after I have self-assessed and peer-assessed my work.
The World Of Mars
Introduction
Mars is a BURNING, HOT and DUSTY planet that has been named after the Roman God of war. Mars has a very hard crust and also 2 volcanos. Today I am going to be telling you about Mars, In this report the paragraphs are going to be about Surface Features, Could Live humans Mars and Human Exploration of Mars.1a
Surface Features
Mars has been called the red planet and Mars is very different to our world, Mars’ surface has iron oxide which causes the dust in Mars to have a red colour. This is because there is lots of dust and the colour of the dust is red. Also there are burning volcanoes on Mars. Oftenly Mars is very dry so it has no oxygen or even worse, No water! (H2O). Mars has a rocky hard floor, also some scientist thought that there were rivers on Mars. Mars doesn’t only have a red atmosphere but also has a thin atmosphere.
Could Humans Live On Mars?
HAve you ever wondered who has been to Mars
Launched on December 4, 1996 by NASA aboard a Delta II booster a month after the Mars Global Surveyor was launched, it landed on July 4, 1997 on Mars's Ares Vallis, in a region called Chryse Planitia in the Oxia Palus quadrangle. Also Mars is cold, I know what you are thinking. When Mars is normal it is pure red, when Mars has a sandstorm then the colour changes to golden brown, Sometimes the sandstorm lasts for months. Sometimes they bring Mars rovers and send them to space. The people who didn’t want to die during the dust storm had to live in space shuttles.
Human Exploration of Mars
So the Mars Rover goes into Mars and then they land on Mars, the rovers job is to collect samples of Mars. Furthermore, the typical time during Mars closest approach to the Earth every 1.6 years is about 260 days to travel to Mars. The first mission to Mars simply just flew right past Mars because the Astronauts did not notice that Mars was right there! Mars Has lots of rovers still there...
Conclusion
I hope this Information report has been a help to you. I hope that you now have the courage to make your own information report about anything else. By the way here is a facts about Mars: http://www.planetsforkids.org/planet-mars.html

Hola Arnav,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your learning about Mars and for providing so much interesting information.
Your next learning steps are:
1) Writing a clear topic sentence with two parts (topic and main idea) for each paragraph
2) Proofreading your work for any grammatical errors. This is an important part of writing and will help you to become a better writer.
Hi Miss Kim,
ReplyDeleteI will be able to do a clear topic sentence by knowing what I will write in the supporting ideas,
I will check grammatical errors by reading out loud to myself so that helps.
