LAST! Blog post

Hi Guys,
Unfortunately this will be the last blog post that you guys will see from me.
This is a reflection type of presentation on my time at Hay Park.

I just want to say that I love every single teacher that has been part of Hay Park, I will deeply miss my friends that are shifting away from me. I remember the first day I stepped in Room 1 welcomed warmly by Mrs Curtis and now she is leaving, also Mrs Kingston, Mrs Wright and Mrs German.

Student Toolkit Day!

Toolkit Day!

Today we had Toolkit Day, Toolkit Day is a day where students teach kids on what they want to (learning). I was a presenter and I was in the screencastify group. Also people from New Winsdor School came so thank you for that, my favourite workshop was learning how to use scratch, Scratch is like coding and it is very cool, the most interesting part was getting to learn all of these new things like building a google site. EVERYBODY got goody bags for attending! We had a prize draw at the end, guess what? A BRAND NEW PAYED CHROMEBOOK WAS A PRIZE AND WAS WON BY LORNA - JAY! She is so lucky, I attended 2 workshops and they were how to build a google site and the basics of scratch. Here is my google site! ( It only has 2 things :( )

Floodland: Should Zoe Trust Dooby, Spat, Munchkin?

First of all, Floodland is a really good book and the main characters are Zoe, Dooby, Spat and Muchkin. It all started when there was a flood in Norwich and Zoe had to use her boat to get across to the other side and a gang what chasing her, which was the Eels (Dooby, Spat and Munchkin) the Eels wanting Zoe in their Gang. Should Zoe Trust them. This is my paragraph on this.

I strongly believe that Zoe shouldn’t trust the eels, because they might be trying to give her an object to build; like a boat so Dooby and his boys can escape out off this Island. Dooby might have threatened Zoe into making a boat. When Zoe first met I thought that Munchkin was the nice guy and tried to warn Zoe on what will happen. Maybe Munchkin got forced into the group like Zoe, actually William might have been the boss and then Dooby threatened Zoe by Yelling “I AM THE BOSS!” The way that the author described their tone that was really horrible and mean.

Last Day of Term 3!

This Term was very cool because we got to learn lots of cool things about space.  I will never forget this term because there were some pretty cool things in this term like art and learning decimals. I really like school at Hay Park because I like getting teachers that actually care about Me and my Classmates. I had a really fun time this term with my new friends that I have made, also the new additions to our classroom, I really work well with them.

He was having a restless sleep...

This week we have been focusing on the viewer (a book) by Shaun Tan So there was phrase that was "he was having a restless sleep", this means that we have seen something that we can not get it out of our head. So Tristan (the boy) had looked at some photos that terrified him, and he thought that it will come true. So we had to act that out. This is me having a restless sleep, I  worked with my friend Shahid to photograph and to edit this photo.

What have been your learning highlights so far this term?

I think that can was a highlight because I have accomplished on of my goals which is being resilient. I really liked this because we had learnt outdoors and indoors.

Last Week We had gone to Camp at Long Bay MERC (Marine Education Recreation Centre)
Camp was so fun so we wrote a Remember When Poem. Below is My poem about camp!

That Was Camp.

Remember…when I was surfing and I thought that I would fall right off the board and go BOOF, SPLASH. when I was on the SurfBoard standing up I felt like I was going to fall. It was hard. Like boiling the ocean hard.

Remember…when I was climbing to the top of the tree when I was doing stack em ,  My legs were truly shaking because I was so nervous at the top ( it seemed like I was on Mt Everest), I was fishing in troubled waters.

That was Camp.

Remember……when I was feeling nervous when doing mountain biking. Because I thought that I would slip because of the puddles , I thought that the bikes would have not so much grip but they did!

Remember…when my friends were encouraging me and saying “GO ARNAV!”, when I was doing Archery and also surf kayaking. That was good help for me and I did it properly. The bow was as fast as a cheetah when I strung.

That was Camp.

Remember……when we went to the haunted house while going Mountain biking, that place was freaky, a true story was that kids were there at the house and  then the ghosts of the dead people came around the back.

Do you remember…when I was munching on that nice macaroni cheese and the food was DELICIOUS it was like 5 star food.

That was Camp

Term 2 Reflection (End if term)

What have been your learning highlights this term?

My Highlights, Learning about space and that was very out of the globe because some facts have interested me like MArs has 2 moons. I liked learning translation and also did you know that you can translate not only a slide but with the numbers like 9,7. I really like how that Planning and the PK task was in the same place, was easy.

My goals were to be balanced, communicator and Risk taker, I think that the balanced goal is going well because I can get things done, Communicating not so much because I don’t  really communicate with others while learning. I am a risk - taker because I take risks into trying new things.

Have you ever wondered about stars, I know a weird topic to write with. Well why not listen to my report about Stars

Appearance of the Stars

There are many colours of stars for example purple, blue and silver.

Let me tell you something, Did you know that the second brightest star is named Canopus, I DID NOT  KNOW THAT! The Orion Nebula star looks like a fuzzy star in space where there is no gravity. If there were to be gravity then planets and stars would be just floating around. Lastly, there are yellow, red and lots of coloured dwarf stars.

The Life cycle

Secondly, Most stars are born within a huge cloud of gas and dust called Nebula.

Did you know that the sun is still alive but also the sun is  around 5 million years old! One normal Star takes a whole cloud of hydrogen gas. There are many different sorts of stars, like The Sun, Canopus and Rigel, there are many of them. The Death of a star can take millions or billions of years to die, we only take about 100 year to die!

The Type Of Stars

 Lastly,There are many different types of stars like a proto star and a dwarf Star.

The Sun is a Bright and BURNING Star, If you went to the sun Your toast (Sand). Like before I said that there is a star called Ridge which is also very bright. Did you know how different the stars are, it is so much that there are 35 species of them! All of the Galaxy’s are made out of more than 4 billion stars.

WHY DOES THE MOON CHANGE EVERY NIGHT

In Week 6 of Term 2 our class focussed on how to write great explanations.

We wrote about the Moon’s different phases as we are in the middle of learning about Planet Earth and Beyond. Learning how to write a great explanation will help us with our self-guided topics in a few weeks time. Here is my writing, after I have self-assessed and peer-assessed my work.

WHY THE MOON CHANGES EVERY NIGHT?

Introduction

The great asteroid, (known as the Moon) has eight different phases which evolve every night. WHAT! If you want to know how the shape of the moon evolves then why not read my explanation!

Moon’s orbit around Earth

Firstly, As the Moon orbits, we either see on side of the moon and the other side in in space. Believe it or not scientists think that it has never been night! The shadows of the Moon are caused by our delightful planet earth's shadows. There is a lunar month where the shape changes of the moon.

Moons Phases

Now, You will need to know the phases.

The first phase that happens is the new moon which you oftenly do not see. Second phase is called the waxing crescent Moon, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, last quarter, waning crescent, new moon. Yes you are right! there are eight phases.

Time management of the moon

The Time management is really important to the moon. This would help the moon’s phases to come and cause the moon to change every single night. Sometimes the moon does not change every night but  has a slight movement. Lastly, the time of the moon it takes to orbit the whole Earth takes about 27 days (27 days, 7 hours, 43 minutes, 11.6 seconds)
