Reflection about Book Club

Genius Hour Reflection

What,

What we did was we carried on working on our Genius hour project and we had to show Mrs Wright our work and then we could make a presentation! Takepo was all like yeah ! because we could start on our Presentation.

So What,

We did it because we were collaborating with May Road School and then the teachers decided we could work together on genius Hour. Also so we can get better at our knowledge in genius hour.

Now what,

My next step is to add more detail and some more information in my work to make it the best group and the best presentation,. I really like having new steps so that I can improve on my work and make it better. Also my group are going to make a video showing all the tricks we have.

May Road School Reflection

What?

We went over to May Road School and then we went to the hall, the hall looks small but it is big.

After that we were talking about genius hour. After the break we got sticky notes and we wrote questions, then we got into groups and discussed about the idea.

So what?

We did it so we could learn more about genius hour. Also that we could collaborate with other schools to make this genius hour bigger and stronger for us.

Now what?

I think next time I go to another school I could help more. Also I could find new people and not like the ones the I have worked with before, I am not supposed to be working with people I know, I am supposed to work with new people.

Learn to code

What we learned about was how to code, on the website they told us to move ford, turn left, turn right. first of all I did not get the whole code thing , but with the help of my friends I was moving on and on.

We are learning this because we are going to meet May road school on Tuesday. Also there is a student called Arnav (not me) in may road he can build a stickman with codes. Building Stick man can be really hard -  with codes

My next steps are to unlock new levels and keep moving on and on,  like what Arnav has been doing. also I can get more help from my friends.  I can help them because how is it fair when somebody helps you and you don’t.

I wonder...

Explanation writing

Today I will be explaining to how does the sound get underwater including the Kina, if you do not know what a kina is it is a living organism that looks like a hedgehog because it has spikes on the body of it. The Kina vibrates the sea by their rasping teeth, as they bite on some rocks the waves keep vibrating and making huge noise,
also when the kina makes the noise then it makes the other animals weak.
Kina eats algae.

 it is the time where it tell you that I am writing the body part .When the Kina is on the rock in the sea then the Kina bites on the rock with its rasping teeth and then the sea vibrates, the other animals in the sea get weaker and weaker then it disturbs the  animals.  The Kina eats the algae and then the razor teeth go on and on and on.  Also some of the Kina’s are ok or like it to make their living habitat a Coral reef.

The sound waves are going up to the other sea animals, maybe the Kina is doing this because it is his enemy or that he doesn’t like them maybe it is his friends and they were just playing. The wonderful sound waves can go from a long way out it and go up to nearly the whole sea!. Next the animals run away from the Kina.

The Kina is very special in ways because sometimes they can kill other animals just by vibrating and that is good because some of the the animals can eat us, and kill us
for example sharks can kill us, Hammer fish and big fish.

Also in the water some people go fishing and then their boat might rumble a bit if they are really close to the spot of where the Kina is and if they are even far they might feel it because the sound is strong. Also can affect others.


Now, you know how sound travels underwater from a Kina, and now you can also tell all your friends and your mates. I hope you found this explanation very helpful also you could maybe make a explanation for me about the kina or something else.

In week 4 of term 3 our class has been focusing on learning how to write great explanations about how sound travels underwater. We have expanded our vocabulary in our inquiry topic ‘The Noisy Reef,’ and learnt about the structure of a great explanation piece. It was quite a challenge, but we really enjoyed watching clips to stimulate our ideas and having discussions about terms which were new to us.

Key competencies

One thing that I am really good at in class is using My wonderful manners. Also I can Help others that need help or look like they need help. Confidently I think that I can comment on other childrens blogs. I strongly believe that I can take risks on different situations. I take risks because I want to be able to succeed in learning and life. I am really good at trying new things like risks. When there is an opportunity I give it a shot.
